The
Building Department is responsible for the enforcement of
the Massachusetts State Building Code, the Southborough
Zoning Regulations and all related regulations referenced
by these documents. The department issues building permits
for the construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair
and demolition of buildings and structures well as the use
and occupancy of all buildings, structures and land.
Questions
about building code applicability and specific technical
requirements can be researched in the Building Department
office. Codes, regulations and standards are available for
use in the office.

Permit
applications are available in the Building Department during
office hours or electronically by clicking below. Applications
must be delivered to the office as there are no provisions
at present to accept them electronically.
Permit
applications are divided into several categories with instruction
sheets for each type attached to an application form. The
divisions are "One and Two Family Residential"
and "Commercial". These are further subdivided
into applications for "New Buildings", "Additions",
and "Alterations". There are separate application
forms for swimming pools and minor projects. To determine
whether a project is "minor" or not it is necessary
to look at the application form.
