March 27, 2011: The Mass Department of Public Health today announced that very low concentrations of radioiodine-131 were found in a rainwater sample. According to DPH, the amounts are minute and do not pose any health risk. MWRA has taken raw water samples at the Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs, and found no traces of radioiodine-131. MWRA will continue to monitor the situation. For more information, see the Mass Department of Public Health’s press release.
