Transfer Station Stickers

                           Application for 2017 Southborough Transfer Station Stickers
      Starting on July 1, residents may purchase Transfer Station stickers through the Town Clerk.
                            You cannot buy a sticker at DPW or at the Transfer Station.

Eligibility
Southborough residents can purchase Transfer Station stickers for their personal and non-commercial use. 
1.    Residents must be listed on the Town Census.
          a.    If you are a new resident and you are not listed on the census, you must come to the                          Clerk’s Office to complete a census form and to purchase your sticker. 
                     You cannot use the online or mail-in options.
2.    Stickers may not be transferred to, nor used by another resident to avoid the purchase of
       additional stickers.
3.    Stickers must be used on cars owned by the same family at the same address.
4.    Seniors born on or before 12/31/1951 will not be charged for the first 2 stickers.
5.    Anyone with an unpaid fine will not be issued a Transfer Station Sticker.
           a.    Contact DPW to pay the fine.

2.    Mail the completed form and a check payable to the Town of Southborough to:

          b.    You’ll receive the sticker(s) by mail in about a week.

There are Two Types of Transfer Station Permits
1.    All Access Stickers allow residents to use all areas of the Transfer Station.
2.    Recycle Only Stickers allow use of the entire Transfer Station EXCEPT the Refuse Hopper.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m new to Town.  Do I have to anything extra to do I buy a sticker?
Only people listed on the Town Census can buy Transfer Station Stickers.  If you are not listed on the Town census, you must come to the Clerk’s Office in person to complete a census form and to buy your Transfer Station Stickers.
 

Why are stickers being sold at the Town Clerk instead of DPW?
The Town Clerk requested the BOS to consolidate this function with other similar functions in the Clerk’s Office because it is more efficient for the Town.

When is the Transfer Station Open?
Wednesday through Saturday from 8am until 6 pm.

Do I need a Transfer Station Sticker if I just want to visit the SWAP Shop?
Yes.  You must have either a Full Access or Recycle Only sticker to use the SWAP Shop.

Where do I put my Sticker on my car?
Permanently attach the sticker to the outside of either the driver’s side windshield or to the driver’s side bumper where the attendant can see it.

Why can’t I put the sticker on the inside of my windshield?
The sticker must be permanently attached to the car, not held in place by adhesive tape.  The Clerk is looking at alternatives for next year.

I bought a new car and put the old plate on my new car.  How do I get a new sticker?
Contact the Town Clerk’s Office and we’ll get you a new sticker. (508) 485-0710 x 3005.

How much are new residents charged if they move to Town after Sept 15?
New residents are charged $20 for each month remaining until Sept 2017.

I may be moving this year.  Can I buy a sticker for part of the year?
No.

Do I need a Transfer Station Sticker if I use a commercial company to pick up my trash?
NO.  Some people buy a Recycle Only sticker so they can use the recycle area and the Swap Shop.

How many Stickers can I buy?
Your fee provides you up to 2 stickers - ONLY for cars owned by the same family at the same address.

Additional stickers for All Access and Recycle Only are $25 each – ONLY for cars owned by the same address.

Can I buy extra Stickers for my other cars?
Yes.  Additional stickers cost $25 each for All Access and Recycle only.

I only need one sticker.  Can I give the other sticker to a relative or friend?
No.  You’ll lose your access to the Transfer Station and receive a $250 fine!

Can I use the Transfer Station if I do not have a sticker?
No.  Everyone must have a sticker.

Can I bring trash from my business to the Transfer Station.
No.

How much are Seniors charged?
Anyone born on or before 12/31/51 can receive up to 2 stickers at no cost.

I need to temporarily borrow another car to use the Transfer Station. How do I do that?
The Town Clerk can issue you a one week pass.  You’ll need the plate # and description of the car you’ll be using.  You MUST have a valid Transfer Station Sticker to receive a temporary pass.  The temporary pass must be for YOUR benefit and to dispose of YOUR trash generated in Southborough.
