The Economic Development Committee is an appointed 9-member board comprised of members with a wide range of talent. The committee is a primary resource to assist individuals and businesses with starting or locating their business in Southborough. Tom CollinsTom Collins is the current Chair of the Committee. He joined the Economic Development Committee in 2018 to help promote responsible and sustainable economic growth which is compatible with the bucolic nature of our beautiful and historic New England community. Tom has been a leader in the commercial real estate community for much of his 40-year career. He currently serves as the Managing Director for Avison Young – New England, a global real estate services company.  For 20 years, he served as Executive Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield’s New England Area leading over 120 real estate professionals at the company’s offices in Boston, Hartford, and Manchester. In 2016 Tom founded Collins Strategies, LLC providing strategic consulting, coaching and mentoring to companies and individual business professionals. Tom also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance and has served on its board for almost 15 years. Tom served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1969-1973.  He has three adult children and two granddaughters and lives in Southborough with his wife Lisa.
Julie ConnellyJulie Connelly has been involved with the EDC since its inception in 2013 and was the Chair during 2019. Julie works as Senior Counsel at Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She has legal expertise on purchase, sale, leasing, construction, and land use issues for commercial properties. Julie is committed to responsible and purposeful economic development that is consistent with the historic and beautiful character of Southborough that can be supported by Southborough's innovative, educated and skilled workforce.
Chris RobbinsChris Robbins is an active member of the Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce and served on its Board of Directors for several years. He serves on the Board of Directors for Alliance Health & Human Services (Southborough, MA), a not-for-profit that delivers health care and foster care services for elders and children.  Chris served on Southborough’s Zoning Board of Appeals and the Capital Budget Committee. He was President of the Southborough Business Association and Rotary International.  He has thirty years of experience in management consulting, assisting organizations to maximize performance.  He is a passionate advocate of Southborough taking responsibility of its local economy and job creation. He is committed to working collaboratively with business leaders, town officials, nonprofit leaders, residents and neighboring communities to enable the town to achieve sustainable growth.  Chris served as President of the Armed Forces Committee of Worcester County.  He served on active duty for three years with the U.S. Army 1969-1973 & (National Guard & Reserves 1973-1991); Major, U.S. Army (Ret.).  He has two adult children, three grandchildren and resides in Southborough with his wife Terry.
