May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The goal of Mental Health Awareness Month is to raise awareness about mental illness and to reduce the stigma that surrounds it. During this month, we strive to educate the community about the importance of mental health and how it affects us all.

Southborough Youth and Family Services is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month by sharing a calendar packed full of important events happening throughout the month of May.  Please see below for event details and registration links.

5/2 Southborough Library welcomes Jill Vroman for her final installment of the Spring Wellness series discussing Mental Fitness via Zoom at 7 pm.

5/6 Southborough Goes GREEN! Wear green to show your support for Mental Health Awareness.

5/7 Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission host Shop with a Purpose at the Community House from 11 am - 4 pm to raise funds for Summer Camp Scholarships.

5/15  Community Walk: Southborough Trails Committee hosts two family-friendly forest bathing experiences led by Erin Flowers, certified Forest Therapy Guide.  These hikes will take place at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm at the Beals Preserve. Registration is required as space is limited.

5/16 and 17th Story Time with Miss Kim at the Southborough Library at 10:30 am

5/18 SYFS welcomes ‘Managing Teen and Tween Stress’ from 12 – 1 pm via Zoom.  This workshop will be a discussion on reframing your child's emotions and behavior and how to respond and support them while maintaining healthy boundaries. 

5/18 Southborough Rotary Club Speaker Series features SYFS Director, Sarah Cassell, sharing the department mission and description of services at the Southborough Library at 7 pm

5/19 Story Time with Miss Kim at the Southborough Library at 11 am

5/19 Community Read: Braving the Wilderness Discussion Group via Zoom at 7 pm Registration link Cosponsored by the Southborough Library

5/21 Community Watch at the Southborough Library will show two movies. 12 – 1 pm Resilience and 1:30-3:00 Paper Tigers

5/24 Trauma Free Communities: Movie Discussion Group about the Community Watch movies will take place at 7 pm via Zoom (Registration will be offered to Community Watch attendees)
